We are open for exchange sometime during the period 1st of July - 20th of August. It can be 3-4 weeks in total sometime during this period.

The house is 300 m2 and is situated exactly 15 minutes from Downtown Reykjavik by car. It is a luxury home with all facilities, such as electrical hot tub in garden for up to 8 people, satellite dish, 52 inch TV in TV room, and electrical lift driven TV in master bedroom, and a very nice electric running track in garage. Each of children's rooms is 15m2 and a playstation is in one of them with a small TV, and master bedroom is about 27 m2 in total. As there are only 3 bedrooms, there is a lot of room for large open spaces, giving a great feeling. The balcony is situated on second floor and is about 22 m2, so it is easily possible to eat outside. There are 2 doors to balcony and one is folding door giving possibility to open 4 meters of length in opening which is great when one wants this open outside spacious feeling.

We will supply a car with the house, it is a Mitshubishi carisma, 1997, and is working very well. If however we get a decent car in exchange we can offer a much nicer car.

We can supply a very nice tent and sleeping bags to use, if you want to travel a bit around the country and visit one of the many camping places, when you go visit waterfalls or other things you would like to see.

We know several trustworthy babysitters that can be contacted for babysitting if required.

Surroundings

The house is only about 200 meters away from a large geothermal outdoor (and indoor) swimming pool with a large slide for kids and is a great place to go and have fun. It is also only 200 m from a low price general store (open all days till 20.00 besides sundays when it is open till 18.00) / hair salon / health care central.

About 50 meters away there is a 18 hole golf court but to walk to golf central house it is about 200 m with no roads to cross.

In Reykjavik there is a lot of things to do for foreigners such as:

1) Whale watching from the Reykjavik harbour
2) Natural museum
3) Various art museums
4) Going down town to Reykjavik's Cafes
5) Walking to top of Reykjavik's landmark mountain (Esjan) and view the whole city from the top (takes about 2-3 hours and is great fun for anybody over 10 year old).
6) Go to Thingvellir which is Europe's oldest parlament and is one of the most beautiful places on Earth and is on record as such at the United Nations. It takes about 40 minutes to go there by car.
7) Go fishing in one of the many lakes surrounding Iceland. It is very cheap and fun for the family.
8) Go visit many of the geothermal pools in Reykjavik.
9) Go to the Blue Lagoon which is about 40 minutes drive from our house.
10) Go for day drives to many of the towns close to Reykjavik, and experience the nature like you have never seen it.
11) Go to one of the glaciers on a trip to the top driving a snow cat.
12) Go rent a four wheel bike and drive around the nature on all of the dirt roads that are close to Reykjavik.

Possibilities are endless and Iceland is the place to go, if you want to see something different from central Europe. Icelanders are very nice, and we have extremely low crime rates. Children are for example out playing on there own, walking to school from about 6-7 years old.
