House

The location of this traditional farmhouse is unique. Close by to the hectic that city life brings with its bars, museums, theatres, clubs and restaurants, the house is surrounded by tranquillity. After a 15-minute drive from Amsterdam's city centre, at the end of a dead-end road, you'll find a picturesque village of about 60 houses amidst the meadows: Holysloot, located in Amsterdam Noord. The house was once a residential house, cow stable and hayloft in one but has been transformed into two separate houses. I live in the back half with my daughter. The house is about 100 square meters and divided into a big living space with an open kitchen, two bedrooms and a bathroom. In one bedroom you will find a single bed 80 x 200 and in the other a double 180 x 200. The house has a big outdoor space, a big garden with access to a small lake in the back. Not a swimming lake, but you can take the canoes for a journey. There are swimming options in the neighbourhood, but not within walking distance. The garden has a variety of fruit trees, apple, plum, pear and a mulberry tree. Many of the fruit trees have a personal story attached to them. A wedding apple tree, the plum tree for a newly born and the mulberry the oldest, for holding the same name as the Pottery studio that was ones here. Besides the farmhouse, there are two smaller buildings where people live. It is a shared garden. Big enough for everyone to enjoy. We are social neighbours but respect each other privacy. We are part of the North of Amsterdam with it's many nice bars, restaurant, film houses and shops. The old shipyards have transformed in cultural hubs. This Amsterdam borough has much to offer. And from the North it is a free ferry ride to the centre or jump on the metro line connecting the North to the city centre within minutes.
