We are ensconced in a beautiful spacious Northwest contemporary home (2100 sq.ft; 195 sq.m.). Our home is a custom-built 4-bedroom, 2.5 bath two story home with a wonderful open floor plan. The home greets you with a massive oak front door and a two-story entry way and wood stairway railing leading to the private upper floor. From the entry way enter the modern kitchen/dining area with ample counter space and cabinetry. On the left is the large living room highlighting extensive oak wood shelving, TV and a gas fireplace.
Upstairs are 3 private bedrooms: a master bedroom with ensuite full bath, a guest bedroom and a second guest bedroom with shared full bath. The second guest bedroom also serves as a small office and music space.
The house is well equipped. There is central forced-air heating and abundant hot water. (There is no need for air conditioning in temperate Bellingham.) We have high-speed router and internet, new washer/dryer and dishwasher, and an abundance of cooking implements/tools and kitchen appliances. We watch network shows, sports and movies streamed from the internet and projected onto one of our two flat screen monitors. We keep our home well maintained. There is no smoking, no pets, and indoors we wear slippers (not street shoes) especially in the upstairs areas.
Our home is tucked into the corner of Whatcom Falls Park just steps away from Whatcom Falls (which you can hear when outside) on a quiet dead-end street. The house is situated on a large forested low maintenance private lot (10,000 sq.ft.; 930 sq.m.). In front of the property is an enclosed raised-bed vegetable garden, and a shaded feature-bench sitting area. In the back of the house under the cedar and fir trees is a big private back deck (700 sq. ft; 70 sq.m.) where you can dine outdoors in the summer.
Such a fantastic location with sunny southern exposure, miles of park trails out your front door in a friendly neighborhood! Did I mention the spectacular sunsets overlooking the San Juan and Canadian Gulf Islands.

Surroundings
Our area
Nature abounds in all directions surrounding this coastal paradise. The tranquil Bellingham Bay waters of the Pacific offer opportunities for kayaking, sailing, water skiing, whale watching, cruising to Friday Harbor. The vibrant tech city of Seattle is only a 90-minutes drive away. Or chose to see the 2010 Olympics harbor city of Vancouver, British Columbia (60-minutes drive) and take a ferry to Victoria on Vancouver Island. To the east, Mt. Baker beckons hikers, campers, climbers, skiers and snowboarders to its slopes.
Bellingham is an outdoor paradise. We are outdoors all the time walking, biking, hiking, and playing pickleball. Bellingham, Washington and the surrounding Whatcom County is renowned for its temperate climate, sunny dry summers, abundant nature, outdoor adventure and breathtaking sweeping scenery from the Salish Sea to Mt. Baker and North Cascades National Park. Savor farm to table menus, craft brews (beer and hard cider), a vibrant downtown scene and charming historical treasures showcase the area as serene and friendly. The Pacific Northwest scarcely gets more peaceful than unspoiled Bellingham, a city of 85,000 nestled in the Bellingham Bay. The downtown area, especially near the Fairhaven district, is lively with the university (Western Washington) nearby.
