Our charter

The art of welcome

Home exchange isn't just about keys changing hands. It's a human gesture, made of reciprocity, small attentions and trust. Here are the six principles that have guided our community for nearly twenty years.

"Swapping your home means opening your door to someone you don't know yet, knowing they will do the same for us. Generosity flows; it isn't sold."

Our six-point charter

Six principles for a successful exchange

These principles aren't imposed rules, but shared markers within our community. The more alive they are, the more the magic of exchange works.

01

Being welcomed means promising to welcome in return

Home exchange isn't a rental in disguise. When you stay at someone's home, you commit, at some point, to welcoming in return. It's this reciprocity — not money — that has held the community together for nearly twenty years.

02

Communicate, again and always

Before the exchange, you get to know each other through internal messaging. During the stay, you stay reachable by phone or WhatsApp. After leaving, you check in. Silence is the number-one enemy of a successful exchange: a quick message is worth a thousand assumptions.

03

Welcoming is a pleasure

Prepare your home the way you would like to be received: clean sheets, an impeccable bathroom, some space in the fridge and cupboards, a handwritten note on the table. As a guest, respect the place as if it were yours — and even a little better.

04

Settling in like a local

Leave a welcome book: the name of the local bakery, the market schedule, the on-call doctor, the restaurant you love, the neighbour who has a spare key. Not a tourist guide — your personal recommendations. That's what turns a stay into a real slice of life.

05

The magic word: thank you

A kind note left by the coffee maker on departure. A bottle of wine from your region offered on arrival. And always, always, a written review after the exchange: it's this ecosystem of gratitude that keeps trust alive between members.

06

Our differences make our richness

Pets, smokers, young children, flexible dates: everything is said in advance to avoid bad surprises. A simple charter guides our exchanges: trust can't be decreed, it builds through transparency. And that's what makes each exchange unique.
